Janie’s Wine Vine Table

This table was commissioned by Janie of Labadie, Missouri. What a beautiful setting for the final product!

HERE’S HOW WE MADE IT

Mild steel rods of various sizes were grouped together and welded to a temporary frame. Heating the group with an oxy/acetylene torch, we then twisted the vine under localized heat. When branches in the vine occurred, more rods of a smaller diameters were added and larger diameter rods were terminated. Once the new rods were welded into the branch location, we would conceal the weld joints within the twist. This gives the illusion of the rods tapering down as they approach the tendrils at the ends.

Our dear friend Butch (Labadie, Missouri) made this magnificent table top from red oak burl.
