Custom “Code of Conduct” Sign

The owner of Workhorse Construction Group (company logo above) asked us to create a sign for his office based on a “Code of Conduct” he saw while traveling in the Northwest. We sought to create a sign which embodied the feel of the space and would incorporate the company logo.

# 7 on the List is “Ride for the Brand”. We capitalized on this and created a branding iron for his company which we used to brand a puck of wood reclaimed from the old cabin he reconstructed as his office space.

The branding iron is held by these hooks we made on the bottom of the sign.

The puck is held in the center of a navigational star which we felt was appropriate for the moral nature of the code. The company name and the star are openings in the main sheet. The base layer is behind this sheet by 2 inches and is covered with bright copper. Within the void between, LEDs were mounted to shine through. The color can be changed and they are operated through both pin holes in the frame and with a hand held remote.

The main elevation of the sign is made of new mild steel which has been oxidized chemically to rust the surface. It’s been coated with a clear-coat which protects against abrason and also helps to arrest further corrosion. Each line of the code itself is raised further (with stand-offs) and includes these custom barbed wire vectors we created.

The sunset is also lower in elevation and is lit with a seperate, and independantly controlled, set of LEDs. This lowered elevation is also copper and makes for a convincing skyline. The snowy peaks are copper sheet which has been hammered through opening in the main rusty section. The horse and rider are silouetted against the sunset and are lifted with stand-offs. Finally the frame is constructed of the same barnwood reclaimed from the cabin.

Killed it.
